Since 1998, Kianga House (Kianga meaning a “Ray of sunlight) has been an old transitional family shelter located in the Crown Heights community of Brooklyn, NY and is sponsored by the Brooklyn Neighborhood Improvement Association. Residents generally consist of 17 young women, 18-24 years of age, who are pregnant or parenting one infant or toddler.
